Join the Floyd County Historical Society for a captivating journey through time as we celebrate Virginia’s Local History Month. Learn about the oral histories preserved in Floyd County.
Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Floyd County’s past as we welcome Sheilah Elwardani, Adjunct Faculty of History at Virginia Western Community College and board member of the Floyd County Historical Society.
The program includes:
• Explore the crucial role of oral histories in preserving Appalachian heritage.
• Listen to fascinating accounts from Floyd County’s World War II and Korea veterans.
• Hear Bob Nester’s vivid recollections of the Chestnut blight and Great Depression.
• Learn how to conduct your own oral history interviews with family and friends.
Bring your own stories and share with the community.
