In 1979, he was a founding partner of PFS Photofinishing in Radford. Whitescarver was a contributing writer and photographer to Shutterbug Magazine and was a contributing writer and photographer for the Roanoke Times, Radford News Journal, and News Messenger.
His office is in the Montgomery Museum of Art and History where he also serves as a docent.
