The Giles County Historical Society Museum presents their Annual Christmas Open House on Friday, December 6, 2024 and Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 PM each night.
Immerse yourself in the timeless charm of the Andrew Johnston House during a special evening by candlelight. This historical treasure opens its doors for a magical evening filled with warmth, nostalgia, and festive cheer.
Additionally, join us to celebrate young talent at our 2nd Annual High School Art Contest. This contest is open to all high school students and invites creative expressions under the theme "Historical". In honor of the upcoming 250-year celebration of the American Revolution, our event aims to inspire both historical and budding artists alike.
What to Expect:
• Scent of the Season: Enjoy the rich aroma of hot apple cider as it beckons you closer, offering a delicious taste of winter’s comfort.
• A Journey to the Past: Step inside and be greeted by Mrs. Johnston's Kitchen, where the air is filled with the mouthwatering scent of homemade treats. Each corner of the house whispers stories of a bygone era, bringing history alive.
• Museum & Gift Shop Open: Explore the museum and discover unique holiday treasures in the gift shop, which is perfect for adding a historical touch to your seasonal celebrations.
Walk through the beautifully preserved Andrew Johnston House and experience history through sights, scents, and sounds that connect you to the past. Witness the incredible talent of high school students and support the next generation of artists as they interpret history in inspiring ways.
