The Blacksburg Newcomers Club of the New River Valley presents their February Monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Blacksburg, VA.

• 10:00 AM: Featured Speakers
Join the Blacksburg Newcomers Group for their monthly meeting. This month's guest speaker is Virginia Tech University Archivist of Special Collections and University Archives Amelia Verkerk. Her presentation is titled "University History and the Archives at Virginia Tech".
Amelia Verkerk currently is the University Archivist at Virginia Tech. She obtained her BA from Hollins University in History and Classical Studies, an MS in Public History from NC State and an MS in Library Sciences from UNC Chapel Hill. At the general meeting, she will be discussing the history of Virginia Tech including how it came to be, major milestones and events, historical firsts as well as how the archives play a part in that history.
Meetings begin with social time with refreshments and followed by a fun, informative program.
Refreshments will be provided.
The meeting is open to the public. All residents of the New River Valley are welcome and there is no fee charged.
Doors open at 8:55 AM, followed by social time and the program starts at 9:40 AM.
Note: Meetings will be cancelled if Montgomery County Public Schools have a two hour delay or schools are closed.
Luther Memorial Lutheran Church is located at 600 Prices Fork Road in Blacksburg, VA.
