Floyd County Emergency teams, New River Valley Services, Red Cross and other important local organizations will be presenting demonstrations, information and panel discussions on state and at 20 booths free for our community.
After hurricane Helene and other recent disasters, it is clear we could be better prepared as individuals, especially in rural communities like ours, where we might be isolated from services. This will be a very special opportunity to get to know those who help us when times are tough and learn how we can better prepare ourselves to thrive together in these changing times.
Activities include:
• Listen to “my best advice” from the experts.
• Learn how to make a good escape kit.
• Who to call for help. How to “stop the bleed”.
• How to tie knots like a Scout.
• Recognize health emergencies like heart attack, heat stroke and panic. • Sign up for rural skills and first aid workshops.
• Peek inside the ambulance.
• Introduce the kids to a Red Cross robot.
Organizations include:
• Floyd County EMS Ambulances
• Floyd County Sheriff Department
• Floyd County Fire Department
• Virginia Disaster Assistance Team
• Virginia Department of Health NRV
• Medical Reserve Corps
• American Red Cross
