Radford University Planetarium presents a Free Planetarium Show titled "Supermassive Black Holes: Uncovering the Invisible" with four showings starting on Thursday, April 24, 2025 through Sunday, April 27, 2025.
Schedule of Showings:
• Thursday, April 24th at 7:00 PM
• Saturday, April 26th at 10:30 AM
• Saturday, April 26th at 1:00 PM
• Sunday, April 27th at 4:00 PM
Leading scientists in observational and theoretical studies of black holes and galaxies, industrial experts in cutting-edge big technologies, and professionals in science dissemination have been brought together to set up research projects which will combine the latest state-of-the-art observations, numerical simulations and innovative analytic tools to compare theory with observation, and shed light on the physics of black hole formation in the context of galaxy evolution. This planetarium show presents the environments of the black holes in an impressive and understandable way to the audience.
"Supermassive Black Holes" is 21 minutes long and is produced by the BiD4BEST (Big Data applications for Black Hole Evolution Studies, a European consortium) received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Sk?odowska-Curie grant agreement No 860744.
All shows will start with a live presentation about the sky and our neighborhood in space and will continue with the full dome show.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
