Description:
The Wilderness Road Regional Museum presents their Annual Historical Summer Camp titled "Cultures of the American Revolution in the Virginia Backcountry" starting on Monday, July 14, 2025 and continuing daily through Friday, July 18, 2025 meeting from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM daily.
With the theme "Cultures of the American Revolution in the Virginia Backcountry", this year's camp will focus on the cultures of local citizens during the American Revolution. If interested in the camp, but can't commit to the entire week, we can accept students for just one day or several days.
The New River Valley was a melting pot of early settlers from many different cultures on the eve of the American Revolution. Summer Camp will explore the homeland cultures of these families and how the American Revolution was impacted from many view points and histories. Campers will learn about the Swiss, German, Scottish, Ulster Scots, Welsh, Cherokee and more throughout the hands-on camp.
Summer Camp Daily Schedule:
• Monday: Melting Pot Cultures
• Tuesday: Fincastle Company
• Wednesday: Frontier Cooking
• Thursday: Scottish Pipes
• Friday: Woodland Culture
Most of the camp will be spent outside, weather permitting, so dress appropriately for the weather and bring sunscreen.
Lunch will be provided daily along with drinks.
The cost is $100.00 per week or $25.00 per day if campers can't attend the whole week.
To register, email wrrm5240@gmail.com.
There are also two camp scholarships available in case there are children interested but need a little financial help to attend the camp.
