Description:
The Floyd County Historical Society presents the event Reenacting History: Patrick Henry’s "Give Me Liberty" on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at The Floyd Center for the Arts.
Patrick Henry Jolly, descendant of Patrick Henry, will portray his ancestor and recite the iconic "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" speech and sharing stories that offer a closer look at the life and legacy of one of America's most influential patriots. He is the fifth-great-grandson of the American patriot Patrick Henry.
March 23, 1775: Patrick Henry, at the Second Virginia Convention, dropped one of the most iconic lines in American history: “Give me liberty or give me death!” After years of trying to reason with Britain, Henry made it clear that talk was pointless. His speech shifted the mood from hoping for peace to preparing for war, and helped push the delegates toward backing the revolution.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
The Floyd County Historical Society's annual meeting will precede this event starting at 10:00 AM.
The Floyd Center for the Arts is located at 220 Parkway Lane South, Suite 1 in Floyd, VA.
