The Arc of New River Valley and Montgomery County Parks and Recreation are teaming up for our first ever Sensory-friendly Valentine's Party on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Mid-County Park Activities Building in Christiansburg, VA.
The Valentine's Party will feature low lighting and low music, a designated safe/quiet space, valentine's arts and crafts and a few low-demand activities, allergy-friendly snack options and refreshments provided.
The event is free and open to all.
Drop in anytime between 4:00-6:00 PM.
The Arc promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.
We are people with disabilities, family members of people with disabilities, teachers and students in our local school systems, university professionals, doctors, accountants, consultants, community activists.
We hold a vision that people with disabilities in southwest Virginia will be active members of our communities and will have the support they need to live the lives they choose. We know that in Virginia people with disabilities who want to live in the community may need help and a microboard can help them. A microboard provides respectful, person centered support for individuals and their families. The most important first step toward establishing a microboard for a person is helping the person to have a strong circle of friends.
