The Blacksburg Library presents the program "Substance Use in the NRV: A Public Health Perspective" on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
Join the New River Health District (NRHD) for an open conversation on substance use in the NRV, the impact of the War on Drugs, and how we move forward together.
Topics Include:
• Overview of substance use in the NRV
• Lived experience from peers in our region
• Local data and public health trends
• Overdose prevention
• Resources and support available
• Community questions, concerns, and discussion
• How can we work together to save lives and strengthen our community
Hear directly from Rise Above staff and local peers sharing lived experience and real solutions.
A free dinner of Subway sandwiches will be provided.
Open to all including community members, families, providers, educators, faith leaders, and people with lived experience.
