Dancer and educator Esraa Warda will be in-person and hosts a rare live Zoom conversation and demonstration with Algerian virtuoso and cultural treasure Toufik Aoun.
Virtuoso singer and multi-instrumentalist Toufik Aoun specializes in Algerian-Andalusian musical traditions, including Hawzi, Maalouf, Chaabi, and Algéroise. The session will explore the history and musical contexts of these traditions alongside live musical demonstrations.
Bridging the geographic distance, Warda and Aoun explore how ancient sounds and instruments define Algerian identity today.
Admission is free however registration is required.
