Description:
The Pulaski Theatre presents Screening of "Resolved to Live and Die: The Revolutionary Roots of Southwest Virginia" on Friday, March 27, 2026.
Join us for a showing of the newly released documentary "Resolved to Live and Die: The Revolutionary Roots of Southwest Virginia". This PBS documentary highlights the Fincastle Resolutions of 1775 where local leaders declared their commitment to liberty, mirroring the spirit of the later Declaration of Independence and fueled the spark of freedom over 250 years ago.
Filmed on location throughout Southwest Virginia, "Resolved to Live and Die" brings this story to life through numerous re-enactments, that capture the peril, passion, and patriotism of the Revolutionary era. These cinematic scenes immerse viewers in the tension of the times, where even fellow colonists were divided—Tories loyal to England clashing violently with patriots seeking independence. This rift often escalated into brutal vigilante justice, reminding us that the revolution was not only fought on battlefields, but also in backyards and town halls.
