New River Community Action (NRCA) presents the 15th Annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser for Floyd County Children's Weekend Food Program on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at Floyd County High School.

Pick out a beautiful handmade bowl, enjoy a delicious meal, and help support weekend meals for local students facing food insecurity!

Floyd Empty Bowls is an annual fundraising event in Floyd, Virginia, supporting New River Community Action's (NRCA) Floyd County Backpack Program. This program currently provides over 3,000 monthly meals to students from low-income families across five schools and NRCA Head Start, ensuring they have food during weekends. Since its beginning in 2007, the program has delivered over 600,000 meals to children in need. The weekly food distribution expense is ~$600 a week. The program is volunteer-based; Floyd Rotary members assemble the backpack packages for each student every Wednesday.

At the event, each attendee with a meal-plus-bowl ticket can select a handcrafted bowl made by local artisans and enjoy a meal of hearty soup, bread, dessert, and a beverage, accompanied by live music. No-bowl tickets with lower prices will receive a disposable bowl at the start of the serving line.

Ticket prices are $25.00 with a bowl for adults and $20.00 for children ages 6-12 with a bowl. For those who just want the meal only and no bowl, adults are $15.00 and children ages 6-12 are $10.00. Kids ages five and under are free with no bowl. Bowl-only tickets will also be available at the event upon entry with a meal ticket holder and are $10.00.

There is a limit of one bowl per attendee. There will be no entry for anyone wishing to just buy a bowl, this is intended to be a community meal fundraising event, not a bowl sales event.
