Description:
Blacksburg Wine Lab presents their next Wine Lab Book Club featuring the book "Bruno, Chief of Police" on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
We’ll sip our way through a curated selection of wines inspired by the book’s setting and themes, pairing story with glass along the way.
About the book:
"Bruno, Chief of Police" by Martin Walker transports readers to the idyllic countryside of southwestern France, where life moves at a slower pace, until it doesn’t. Set in the small village of Saint-Denis in the Dordogne, the story follows Bruno, a thoughtful and deeply rooted local police chief who navigates both everyday village life and the tensions that arise when a darker chapter of history resurfaces.
Blending mystery with rich descriptions of food, wine, and rural French culture, the novel offers an immersive look at community, tradition, and the complexities beneath the surface of a seemingly peaceful place.
The total ticket cost is $40.00 per person. Save your spot with a $10.00 deposit, which is transferable but not refundable
