Hip Hop Studies at Virginia Tech presents the VTDITC vol 66: 9th Annual Beat Battle and Music Production Workshop on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 inside The Cube located within the Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech.

Want to witness eight music producers battle it out head-to-head and see who walks away with this year’s #VTDITC cup?

Atlanta's DayTripper is the visiting guest scholar and will judge some of the area's best music producers during their head-to-head beat battle. After the battle, DayTripper will lead a workshop breaking down his artistic process.

Admission is free to attend, but space is limited.

Digging in the Crates: Hip Hop Studies at Virginia Tech, or #VTDITC, exists to foster a sense of community among hip hop artists, fans, and scholars on campus. We hope to model that students’ personal interests are worthy of academic study and further institutionalize Hip Hop Studies’ presence on Virginia Tech’s campus. The organization was founded in 2016.
