Christiansburg Institute, Inc. presents the program "Legacy In Every Tile: Illustrating the History of the Christiansburg Industrial Institute" on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the Schaeffer Memorial Baptist Church / Hill School Community Center in Christiansburg, VA.

This interactive community program, led by Christiansburg Institute, Inc. interns with staff support, explores the powerful and often under-told history of the Christiansburg Industrial Institute (CII). From its founding and role in Black education to its place within the broader story of Reconstruction, industrialization, and Jim Crow in Southwest Virginia.

Participants will also help create a collaborative painted tile mosaic inspired by the stories and lessons shared throughout the program, a creative expression of community memory, dialogue, and stewardship.

All supplies will be provided.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

Schaeffer Memorial Baptist Church / Hill School Community Center is located at 570 High Street in Christiansburg, VA.
