The Wilderness Road Regional Museum presents their annual "Loyalists in the Backcountry Event" on Saturday, June 6, 2026 and Sunday, June 7, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM both days.

Join us for the Annual Loyalists in the Backcountry Event and learn about both the Patriots and Loyalists in the Backcountry of Southwest Virginia during the Revolutionary War. This is an educational yet fun event to share the harsh reality of split loyalties in the "rascally" region during the American Revolution.

On Saturday, enjoy museum tours and living history.

On Sunday, there will be some mischief afoot. Help us find the counterfeiters and then assist as we round those Peak Creek Tories up and put them in the pillories. This event is a lighthearted presentation of some rather serious history that took place 250 years ago.

Living history will be presented by the Fincastle Company. Members of the Fincastle Company Living History group will share the history of the complicated interactions of the Patriots, "rascally" Loyalists, Tories, and those trying to stay "unaffected" during the American Revolution.

The event is free, but donations are always welcome and appreciated and will be used for the museum's active outreach programs.

The Wilderness Road Regional Museum is located at 5420 Wilderness Road in Newbern, VA.
