The Floyd County Historical Society presents "Celebrate the 250th Birthday of the United States" on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at the Pine Creek Primitive Baptist Church & Cemetery in Floyd, VA.
Gather with us to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the establishment of the United States of America. Join the Floyd County Historical Society and our guests for a special ceremony honoring the birth of our nation.
Pine Creek Cemetery holds the remains of nine Revolutionary War veterans. We will be honoring their service by placing a wreath at the Floyd Courthouse Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution’s Memorial. This monument was placed at Pine Creek Cemetery by the Floyd Courthouse Chapter DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), to honor those veterans of the Revolution and the War of 1812.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
Immediately following the ceremony (around 11:30 AM), gather at the Floyd Presbyterian Church Bell Tower for the Nationwide Bell Ringing Tradition, where the bell will ring 13 symbolic times, once for each of the original colonies, in honor of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the United States.
This event is presented by the Floyd County Historical Society, Floyd Courthouse Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and The Floyd County Historical Preservation Trust.
