JBR Vineyards & Winery presents their 7th Annual Pawpaw Festival on Saturday, September 19, 2026 and Sunday, September 20, 2026 from 12:00-5:00 daily.

Celebrate Virginia’s native tropical fruit! Enjoy a weekend filled with live music, great wine, vineyard tours, a stroll through the pawpaw patch, and learning about pawpaws.

The pawpaw tree, native to Appalachia, produces a unique and delicious fruit you won’t often find in stores due to its short shelf life. That’s part of its charm, if you want to enjoy pawpaws, you grow them yourself.

Pawpaws are an integral part of Appalachian history. Native Americans not only ate the fruit; they made rope out of the bark. The Shawnee had a "paw paw month" on their calendar. George Washington’s favorite dessert was chilled pawpaw, and pawpaws are mentioned in Lewis and Clark’s log. Mary Draper Ingles was sustained by paw paws on her long trek home from captivity.

Join us for a day celebrating this hidden Appalachian treasure. Learn how to select and grow your own pawpaw trees, then relax and take in the beauty of the vineyard. Enjoy live music with a glass of estate-grown wine, savor offerings from local food trucks (or bring your own picnic), and take a stroll out to the pawpaw patch.

On Saturday, enjoy the music of Living Proof and, on Sunday, Virginia Hollow performs.

Living Proof is a band that performs country music.

We’re excited to welcome Leaning Tree Farm to the Pawpaw Festival both Saturday and Sunday!

This community farm stand based in Pearisburg specializes in locally grown plants and produce. Stop by their booth to browse pawpaw seedlings, native plants, and seasonal heirloom produce, perfect for taking a little piece of Appalachia home with you.

Admission is free.

Children and well-behaved dogs are welcome.

JBR Vineyards is located at 1360 Springdale Road in Pearisburg, VA.
