The Blacksburg Newcomers Club hosts their September General Meeting on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in Blacksburg, VA.

The Blacksburg Newcomers Club invites New River Valley residents to attend our monthly meeting, featuring Dr. Michelle R. Stocker, PhD, Associate Professor of Geobiology at Virginia Tech, who will present:
“Life After Death: Evolutionary Experimentations in the Aftermath of Mass Extinctions”. What happens to life after a mass extinction? Dr. Stocker will share insights into the evolutionary changes that take place in the aftermath of some of Earth's most dramatic periods of biological change.

Come for the fascinating science, stay for the people!

The presentation is one part of our regular monthly Blacksburg Newcomers Club meeting. It's also an opportunity to:
• Enjoy refreshments
• Meet people from throughout the New River Valley
• Learn about the club's interest groups and activities
• Discover ways to get involved and make new connections in our community
