The Museum of Geosciences at Virginia Tech presents the Fossil Unwrapping Party 2026 on Thursday, September 3, 2026 in both Hahn Hall and Derring Hall on the campus of Virginia Tech.

Join us for our yearly Fossil Unwrapping festivities. Unwrap amazing Triassic fossils, play a fun game of Dinosaur or Not a Dinosaur inside the Museum, sort microfossils, and more!

Learn about fossils while helping Virginia Tech paleontologists unwrap Triassic fossils from Arizona and Texas collected during their summer fieldwork.

We will begin with a brief lecture at 6:30 PM in Hahn Hall, Room 130. This will be followed by fossil unwrapping festivities in Room 3065A (Derring Hall) and fun, interactive stations inside the Museum of Geosciences, located in Room 2062 (Derring Hall).

Admission is free and open to ages 7 & up.

Note: All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Space is limited and reservations are strongly encouraged.
