Description:
Old Church Gallery presents Children's Author Hilda Harmon Book Signing on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
Hilda Harmon has recently published a children’s book entitled "The Little Girl Who Loved Names", which is based on her childhood memories of growing up in Check, VA in the 1930s. Her grandfather owned a grist mill there, her mother ran the general store, and her father built a canning factory that was the major employer in the community. Among the gifts her mother instilled in her youngest child are a love for reading and beauty, both of which continue to sustain Hilda at age 94.
Hilda’s book shares her remembered moments with her dearest childhood playmates and pets that was sparked by a painting she crated placing herself in her favorite spots with her playmates and pets. Her words bring readers along whether she’s up in her apple tree or creating monster fingers from trumpet vine blossoms.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
A limited number of "The Little Girl Who Loved Names" will be available for purchase at the Old Church Gallery.
Old Church Gallery is located at 110 Wilson Street in Floyd, VA.
