Description:
New River Community Action (NRCA) presents the 10th Annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser benefiting the NRCA Floyd County Back Pack Program on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Floyd County High School.

Empty Bowls is a fundraiser for the Floyd County Back Pack Program and features handcrafted bowls created and donated by local artists and soup made by volunteers. Participants will be able to select a bowl to keep and have it filled with soup of their choice on a first come, first serve basis.

The beautiful bowls contributed by local potters make the annual luncheon a success. Community members also support Empty Bowls with donations of soup, bread and entertainment to create this popular event. Through the collective effort of the Floyd County community, a delicious meal is served to over 500 people each year.

In addition to the bowls and soup, the meal will also include fresh homemade bread, beverages and cookies. Live entertainment will be provided by string bands Fork Mountain Ramblers and the Earl White Stringband. There will also be a Silent Auction.

Adult tickets include a handcrafted bowl, soup and entertainment.

The cost for adults is $15.00 with advance ticket purchase and $18.00 at the door while supplies last.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at the NRCA Office located at 323 Floyd Highway South in Floyd, VA, the Floyd Center for the Arts, Bell Gallery, Floyd Pharmacy and the Floyd Visitor Center.

All proceeds benefit the NRCA Floyd County Back Pack Program. The program helps eligible school children receive nutritious, easy-to-prepare food they need for the weekends. Each week NRCA volunteers purchase, pack, and deliver the food to the five Floyd County schools and NRCA’s Head Start Program. The program served an average of 174 children per week at the Floyd County schools and the NRCA Head Start program during the 2015-16 school year.
