Chabad at Virginia Tech and The Jewish Student Union at Virginia Tech present the Liviu Librescu Memorial Lecture with Holocaust Surviver Rabbi Mangel on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech.
Prominent holocaust survivor, renowned scholar, speaker, and author Rabbi Nissen Mengel will recount his survival as the youngest child inmate from the Auschwitz concentration camp as the Virginia Tech community honors Professor Liviu Librescu another holocaust survivor who saved the lives of his students 10 years ago. During the Virginia Tech shooting, Professor Liviu Librescu famously died barricading the door of his classroom, while 22 of his students escaped.
This memorial event is on April 24, the 28th of Nisan on the Hebrew calendar—which is the 10th Hebrew anniversary of Librescu’s death. Professor Librescu's son Lionel Arie Librescu will also be speaking.
