Blacksburg Community Strings presents their Spring 2024 Concert on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Warm Hearth Village Center.

Join us for a Sunday afternoon infused with the soul-stirring melodies of Antonin Dvorak's "Symphony No. 9" and the enchanting harmonies of contemporary American composers. The program includes Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 "From The New World" as well as Appalachian Morning by Robert Sheldon and Prairiesong by Carl Strommen.

The Spring Concert is a harmonious blend of tradition and the contemporary, an experience that promises to be as memorable as it is melodic. Come and hear music that reflects the land and cultures of America.

Admission is free, though donations are accepted and appreciated.

The Blacksburg Community Strings (BCS), a community ensemble of violin, viola, cello and string bass players, was formed in October 1999 and had its debut public performance in December 1999. It is made up of middle and high school students, avocational community players, and active and retired professionals.

BCS welcomes string players of all ages and abilities from Blacksburg and the surrounding region. All members are volunteers. There are no dues or fees. No auditions are required. Requirements: Your love of music and your willingness to work hard!
