The Floyd County Historical Society presents the historic lecture titled "Historic Log Buildings of Floyd County and the Region" on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at The Floyd Center for the Arts.
Senior Architectural Historian at the Virginia Department of Historic Resources Mike Pulice will be discussing the historic structures of Floyd County and the surrounding regions.
Mike Pulice grew up in Augusta and Savannah, Georgia, and northern Virginia. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology/Anthropology from Radford University in 1990 and worked nationwide as an archaeologist until completing a Master of Science in Architecture at Virginia Tech in 2000. He has held the position of architectural historian for the Virginia Department of Historic Resources’ Western Regional Office since 2001.
Mike is a noted authority on historic brick masonry, and fosters a special interest in log construction. In 2011 he published the book "Nineteenth Century Brickwork in the Roanoke Valley and Beyond: Discovering the True Legacies of the Deyerle Builders".
Admission is free and all are welcome.
