Sky High Reggae Promotions presents the 2nd Annual Reggae In The Park on Saturday, October 7, 2023 inside Dogtown Roadhouse.

UPDATE: This event has been moved indoors from Warren G. Lineberry Park to Dogtown Roadhouse due to the expected colder temperatures.

Join us at Dogtown featuring international touring artist Mighty Mystic, Roanoke based Lazy Man Dub Band and Floyd's own DJ Ruby Star. Enjoy five hours of the finest roots reggae music!

Mighty Mystic is a reggae artist based in Boston, Massachusetts. He is considered as one of the leaders in the U.S. reggae scene and labeled by many as one of the more prolific artists to develop outside of Jamaica. He has gripped the scene with ferocious conviction and an uncanny ambition worthy to be mentioned among the greats. He has gone from being a fan of reggae music to being a contributor to the art.

Mystic continues to wake up the world with his high energy, message driven brand of reggae music which he emphatically calls "Hard Roots". It is this unique spin on classic reggae blended with hip hop and rock that has catapulted him to the forefront of today's reggae revival.

Mighty Mystic came on the scene in 2006 after scoring his first international hit with the song "Riding on the Clouds". However, it wasn’t until the release of his first album "Wake up the World" (2010) that he became a household name. "Wake up the World" boasted several standouts, such as "Revolution", "Riding on the Clouds", "Original Love" and "Slipped Away" with appearances from reggae icon Shaggy and roots rocker Lutan Fyah.

Mighty Mystic is also the younger brother of current Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

The Lazy Man Dub Band came together in Fall of 2007 by a happy set of fortunate circumstances. Starting with Roanoke, Virginia, the band has been laying down the jams all across the state and leaving in its wake an exploding fan base.

Constantly evolving as a group, Lazy Man relentlessly experiments with their sound, by bringing new and different arrangements to the table each night. No two Dub shows will leave you feeling the same.

Rehearsing in a basement studio in the valleys of southwest Virginia and travelling to everywhere, The Lazy Man Dub Band is bringing roots rock reggae to the masses, one party at a time.

DJ Ruby Star is a roots reggae and dub selecta DJ and co-founder of Sky High Reggae.

Additionally, there will be vendors on site and Jesi Lundy and Cameron Stallings of The Color Project will light up the park.

After the music wraps up, head inside Dogtown Roadhouse for a DJ afterparty starting at 10:00 PM.

Sky High Reggae Promotions facilitates peaceful enlivened multicultural, intergenerational community connections through transportive musical experiences. We create and promote local performance and education events that celebrate global healing vibrations of conscious roots reggae music in Southwest Virginia. Our mission is to improve regional access to world class reggae music, support reggae artists and build bridges between multicultural community sectors.

This is a donation only event. All ages are welcome.

Proceeds will benefit Sky High Reggae Promotions non-profit art program Doing Art. This year we are creating take home art kits to distribute to kids via libraries, schools and bus routes. We trade finished artwork for more supplies. Your support is greatly appreciated.

The event is rain or shine. In case of rain, the event will be moved inside Dogtown Roadhouse.
