The Virginia Tech College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences presents the Annual Giovanni-Steger Poetry Prize on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at The Lyric Theatre in Blacksburg, VA.

Student finalists from across the university will take center stage. The Giovanni-Steger Poetry Prize ceremony, held in honor of the late Nikki Giovanni, will celebrate the power of poetry and creativity. A beloved poet, educator, and University Distinguished Professor Emerita, Giovanni’s legacy continues to inspire generations of writers and artists.

A reception will follow the readings.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Lyric Theatre is located at 135 College Avenue in Blacksburg, VA.
