The Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts presents the play "The Taming of the Shrew" with six performances starting on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 through Saturday, April 20, 2024 inside the Squires Studio Theatre within the Squires Student Center on the campus of Virginia Tech.

In one of Shakespeare's most problematic, but compelling comedies, Petruchio sets out to woo and wed Katherine, a feisty and independent woman who resists his increasingly outrageous advances. Set in a parallel world that looks suspiciously like 1960s Las Vegas, this streamlined and fast-paced version of "The Taming of the Shrew" incorporates music, dance, and hilarious comic lazzi to upend your expectations about who is who and what is what, and celebrate the true spectrum of identity and relationship! Grab a cocktail, get on your go-go boots, and come and join us by the pool!

Tickets are $15.00 for the general public and $12.00 for seniors and students.

Tickets may be purchased through the Moss Arts Center ticket office in person Tuesday-Friday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, by phone at 540-231-5300 or online at https://sopa.vt.edu/events/performances/2024/04/sopa-tamingshrew1.html (click on the date you want to attend). Tickets will also be available at the door, cash only, in the Squires Student Center beginning one hour prior to the performance.

Run time is approximately 90 minutes with no intermission.
