Description:
The Virginia Tech College of Natural Resources and Environment presents a Harvest Hike on Saturday, October 25, 2024 at Bald Knob and War Spur at Mountain Lake Conservancy in Giles County.
College of Natural Resources and Environment Geography Instructor Stewart Scales ‘09, ‘11 will lead two of the most popular hikes in the area!
Hikers will learn about the history of Mountain Lake and local geology, landforms, and flora as they take in beautiful views of West Virginia and the New River Valley, as well as Virginia’s largest distribution of American Chestnuts. Hikers will travel about four miles total at the two locations, including a steep ascent of o.4 miles.
All ages are welcome and admission is free.

Please be sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes and bring energy snacks to keep you fueled on the trail. Good walking shoes are encouraged.
