FloydCARE in collaboration with The Floyd Country Store and Floyd Friends of Asylum Seekers presents their 2025 National Hispanic Heritage Celebration with The LUA Project in concert on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

Join us for a celebration of our Hispanic friends and neighbors with The Lua Project performing.

Schedule of Events:
• 6:00 PM: The Los Appalachianos Album & Stories by The Lua Project
• 7:00 PM: Speeches by the organizers
• 7:30 PM: Music by The Lua Project
• 8:30 PM: Close

The Lua Project is a Mexilachian Music band from Charlottesville, VA performing a blend of original and traditional Mexican, Appalachian tunes and songs from the Atlantic Basin.

Lua is a cultural pollinator, bridging together musical styles from different continents and different centuries. They write about contemporary themes, about families, and people and work and loss, but draw on the musical traditions of their own cultural past.

The music is inspired by Mexican and Appalachian song forms, Eastern European tonalities, baroque melodic ideas, & narrative storytelling approaches. They have created a repertoire that constitutes a new traditional music that is being shared with their children to experience, transform, and pass on.

Admission is free though donations will be accepted.

Tamales, empanadas, and tres leches cake available by donation provided by Floyd Friends of Asylum Seekers.

Doors open at 5:30 PM and the music starts at 6:00 PM.

The Floyd Country Store is located at 206 South Locust St in Floyd, VA.
