Description:
The Floyd County Historical Society presents the historical talk titled "The Frontier on the Brink: Lord Dunmore's War" on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at the Floyd Town Hall Community Room.
Point Pleasant, just a four hour car ride from Floyd, VA played a pivotal part in the American Revolution.
Noted interpretive historian Dave Robbins discusses the Battle of Point Pleasant on October 10, 1774 in an engaging program. This single, decisive battle of Lord Dunmore’s War has been argued as the first battle of the Revolution and shaped how some Native Americans sided during the Revolution. This battle presents a haunting question that still stirs debate among historians today: Was the Battle of Point Pleasant truly the opening salvo of the American Revolution?
Admission is free and all are welcome.
The Floyd Town Hall is located at 203 East Oxford Street in Floyd, VA.
