Description:
Virginia Tech Alumni Weekend presents a Screening of "Resolved to Live and Die: The Revolutionary Roots of Southwest Virginia" with a Q&A Panel to follow the screening on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at The Lyric Theatre.
"Resolved to Live and Die: The Revolutionary Roots of Southwest Virginia" is a historical documentary produced by Blue Ridge PBS and PBS Appalachia Virginia that explores Southwest Virginia’s decisive yet often overlooked role in the American Revolution.
Centered on the 1775 Fincastle Resolutions, an early declaration of resistance to British rule, the film examines how frontier leaders and settlers pledged to “live and die” in defense of liberty more than a year before the Declaration of Independence. Through expert interviews, regional storytelling, and on-site filming at historic locations, the documentary highlights the courage, convictions, and complexities of a rugged borderland community that helped shape the course of American independence.
Admission is free and open to the public.
The Lyric Theatre is located at 135 College Avenue in Blacksburg, VA.
